Just when you thought Pride was done and over with, it pulls you back in. Southern Pride gets revved up this weekend and we’re going to keep you abreast of the goings-on. Dallas Southern Pride is the biggest GLBT convention with the mission to “build awareness of pride in the Same Gender Loving (SGL)/ Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) community of color.”
So, now that you’re in the know, it’s time to get that calendar out and mark it up for the coming weekend. Since Thursday is the new Friday, you got a couple of days to get ready because the Opening Ceremony (aka reception and mixer) starts then and will be hosted by the tres fab Harmonica Sunbeam at The Sterling Hotel. That’s from 7 – 10 p.m. and then after that’s done, you’re gonna bust your butt over to downtown to Obar for the offical kick-off party. Obar is a friggin’ blast and I highly highly recommend their peach mojitos. They are delish and lethal. 
And sheesh, they are jam-packing the bill at Obar thanks to Southern Boi Entertainment (go to their site for a better image than the one above). Dallas’ own Silkie Munro who just so happens to be the current Ms. Gay Black Universe will be on hand along with centerfold model Mr. Saukei. But I hope to make it to catch the laughs of comedian Dion coming in from D.C. cause I love me some funny.
To think, this is all just for Thursday! It’s gonna be a wet and wild weekend I imagine. Buckle up.
